Where and when were you born?
West London on 4th October 1960 - Yes, Y2K is the BIG 4 0

When did you join BT and what was your first job in BT?
In 1981 I joined as a Commercial Officer in what was then London West Area.

What did you do before joining BT?
I worked in Central London for Max Factor at their Head Office in a Sales Support role. I left because I wanted to pursue a face-to-face selling role and in those days that company had a male-only policy.

What have you achieved that you're proud of?
My earliest achievement was being made Head Girl at School. I am proud of my career progression and sales achievement, which is down to determination and sheer hard work. I can't leave this question without mentioning my two little achievements Leonie and Holly.

Outside of BT, who is the person(s) you admire the most, and why?
Nelson Mandela - the reasons are obvious, words like belief and strength come to mind.

What's your favourite film?
Billy Wilder's -The Apartment with Jack Lemmon and Shirley McClaine

What are your sports/hobbies?
My two young children who take up most of my time outside work. If I do have any spare time, I enjoy cooking and gardening. For the last five years, in January I have completed an application form to re-join my local Gym. This year, I even wrote the cheque but it is still in my bag.

What music do you like?
I like a wide range of music. My record collection is dominated by Jazz, Marvin Gaye and Frank Sinatra, however, I recently went to the HMV sale and came away with tapes by: Andy Williams, Prince, Van Morrison, Dusty Springfield and George Michael.

What kind of books do you read?
On holiday last month I read Barbarians at the Gate - the books about the take over battles in the 80's. I also read the latest Joanna Trollope.

Who is your favourite comedian?
I like Larry Sanders and Seinfield. I think Steve Cougan is brilliant especially as Alan Partridge.

What's your favourite food?
Seafood cooked by my husband.

What's your ideal holiday?
How long have I got?
A long break would be visiting my parents in Dominica where I would be totally spoilt or for a shorter holiday, a family break in the eastern Algarve.

Any final comment?
This interview has made me think about how success is achieved. Quite frankly, it's through sheer hard work and commitment to the task but making sure you enjoy the journey.
